Design Wall Monday

Oxygen is finished! I really like the modern feel and I plan to quilt it in a "random" stitch pattern.

I received this kit for Christmas. I discovered last night, if you look closely, that the pattern picture is not the quilt pattern in the black and white on the "putting it all together" page. Hmmm, looks very interesting and I will have to print the color pic from the net for a guide. This is next and I will start it today.

Signs of summer. This plant stayed alive over the winter and is blooming nicely. Love its color. I think that the universe is back on balance today. We had a sunny weekend after 5 days of thunderstorms and gloomy skies, it was a welcome event!

Here are two quilts I have finished for customers in the past couple of weeks. I love how they turned out. The green quilt is queen sized and just divine. The Pink quilt is a baby quilt, the brown squares are Minkee in a few places and it quilted up very nicely. More details on the long arm blog

Here is another picture from the air show. Look closely you can see the Wing Walker balancing precariously. Hmm, why would you do that? I am sure that is why we have faith, a spiritual life, because that is how life can feel hanging out there in the open air.

I will say of the LORD, He is my refuge and my fortress: my God; in him will I trust. Psalm 91:2

Design Wall Monday

Here is the quilt I am making using the Oxygen line of fabrics. I am using the free pattern called Lemon Squares in the free pattern section here, at Fresh Lemons Quilts.
It is another border less quilt!

This week has been filled with gardening, a local air show, sending DS off to camp, watching travel shows with dreaming of where our first international trip will be (Scotland and Ireland!) , long arming two customer quilts and exercising.

Local Air Show

For a little town, the air show was great. Some of the best flying I have seen in years!
Last air show I went to a plane crashed and a pilot died so this was much better and I want to go again next time.

Ben Franklin Quotes

I found a Ben Franklin Quote generator as an app for my phone. Wow, tons of wonderful pearls of wisdom to ponder.

The one that hit me right between the eyes is this one:

A man wrapped up in himself makes a very small bundle. ~Benjamin Franklin

Reminds me that I need to think beyond me and mine. I need to be flexible and willing to adjust. That Ben Franklin, where did he get all of those quotes for Poor Richard's Almanac? I think I have found my next research project.

Lastly, a few pictures from the Midland Highland Festival. It was smaller but photo ops were so much better. I had so much fun!

The brick wall.

I took this photo because I thought it was cool. A modern look at a 100 year old wall.

I have hit the wall so to speak in my diet and exercise program. I am not moving down! Sigh, time to change things.

I have hit the wall in my organizing project. Summer has brought fun things to do!! I will get back on it this fall. Time to change things.

I have hit the wall but I have decided that is really normal and time to find a way to move on. Hmm, it really is time to change things. :) I feel really good about that.

Design Wall Monday

I decided that this old fashioned quilt doesn't need a border.
I will save that Mark Twain fabric for another day... it is too cute to cut into!

I will post more pictures of another Highland weekend tomorrow! It has been a great June with the Highland games and Graduation parties. I am enjoying the social calendar very much this year.

Favorite things

My Violin and music
Outside of quilting, one of my favorite things to do is to play violin.
I really like to play traditional Celtic music.

More favorites: I really like to play Trad music with my family. My husband and son are quite talented guitar players and singers. They put up with my playing last night along with my music choices because they were my books. :). It was a divine impromptu session and Wild Mountain Thyme is a favorite that I found in a book purchased at RenFest last year.

It sure was a ton of fun and was better than playing along with You Tube videos.

Yep it was a great day.

Design Wall Monday

Just one star is the pattern for the block. I trimmed it to 10 inches and decided the rest of the layer cake will be the spacing blocks . I have this Mark Twain fabric that I am going to use for the outer border. I may add sashing and setting stones.

Summer is here and we have been busy with Highland Games, graduation parties and gardening. What have you been up to?

June 1!

It never ceases to amaze me how fast time flies once spring is here. It may be the sun that is showing itself until 930 at night, after months of being hidden. It may be the increase in the activities that we engage in because travelling is easier.

I have enjoyed my husband's first Highland Games Competition. He is just starting out and this is going to be something we will do 6 or 7 times this summer. He really did a great job and the pictures that follow are from the festival and games last weekend. I  am really glad he has found an activity he enjoys so much. It has helped us both to continue to exercise and continue on the journey of being fit and losing weight.

The happiness project has an interesting challenge this month. If you recall January was the start of the year long organization project, continuing regular exercise and sleep, eating right. February was remembering love. The next three months were making memories, work place happiness and being serious about play, and taking risks that may involve failure. Friendships is Junes goal. Hmmm, I will have to think about this goal. I think things like keeping touch, random acts of kindness, and getting together are what is in order. Really the whole happiness project is really about attitudes, making goals and doing what it right. It has been very interesting because after 6 months, I do feel happier. And it isn't just the sun!
