Design Wall and coffee time

Some mornings, the coffee tastes so good. Today is that day, it has just the right amount of cream and sugar to be perfect. Hmmmm.....

Here is my weekend worth of work. I am making a sample for the quilt shop. She chose the pattern and the fabric line for me and sent me home with the kit. I add batting and backing to finish on my long arm. Then after a few months of display it is mine, all mine. Insert goofy laugh of mad scientist type.
Do you remember my dislike for patterns? Well, I do not like following them. However, I am trying to help promote not only the fabric line but this pattern for sale. If you wrote this pattern, listen to my little pet peeve. This has caused my undue stress. The photo of the pattern on the cover is not what is written in the direction. I am not sure what to do, so I am calling the quilt shop. Look at the border photo. Look at the pattern. The pattern calls for butt joints on the border. The photo the border is mitered. I would choose a third option because the butt joints aren't my fav. BUT I don't know if a small deviation is allowed under the "rules" of making a sample. I will find out asap. What would you do? Grrr, pet peeves.
Here are the quilted 60 degree triangle table runners/toppers I quilted on my little machine. I am feeling like a quilting animal!!

By the way I am still knitting a prayer shawl a row or three a day. I still have 2 UFO crochet projects out there. AND a yo-yo table runner nearly finished but still a UFO. I feel some finishes coming on plus I need to work on BIG FAT BINDING MOUNTAIN that is growing with projects that need hand stitches on the bindings. I gotta get to work this morning then to work on this stuff!!

I am sorry you are having problems with this pattern but I sure like the colors that you are using. Very pretty!

Love the mad scientist giggle, I so resemble that remark! The quilt is lovely, but yes I agree, very frustrating when the pattern isn't correct.

Love the fabrics you are using. I know what you mean about the coffee. Our starbucks does not open until 7:30 so I have a long morning ahead.... LOL

I have never liked following patterns: I am so glad I have not been asked to do store samples. I'm sure I could follow a pattern but it would be like being in quilter's jail, to me.

The shop would like to stick to the written directions in the pattern to promote the pattern. It is the easiest way. I was beginning to fret about how to miter the corners....I will be good with it but if it were my quilt I would make a block on each corner like the bordered squares.

It would depend on the fabric...if it's a striped fabric, I'd miter the borders because I like that look. The store probably doesn't care, but I think most people prefer to butt the border corners because it's easier.

Lovely quilt but I agree the pattern should be what the picture is or provide pattern for two alternate borders.

I really like the placemats.

I do like your fabrics - and your quilt sure will promote them well! I hear your frustration on troubled pattern...

I know what you mean about the coffee. I take my coffee "sweet and light" just like you! We're in the minority you know but it's the way my dad took his coffee and, as a girl, he sometimes gave me a teaspoonful to my delight.

So frustrating with the pattern! But I can see how it happened when the stripe fabric was chosen for the border. The pattern just needs a paragraph about mitering the corners if stripes are picked.

I love the body of the quilt top! And thanks for giving me another example of a mod quilt.

I can understand your peeve with the pattern. I think they should provide the instructions definitely for all of what they have pictured. The quality of pattern directions varies so much. Once my instructor taught a class 3 times before she figured out the ironing instructions for a pattern. I had read it over and over myself and really didn't understand. Just give me a diagram!
