Design Wall Monday

Here is the Friendship Triangles Medallion Quilt. It has taken me all week to put the borders on each side. Notice the weird corners, well that is because they are supposed to be mitered. I tried one and it didn't work out. I was very frustrated because it looked so easy in the book with the pattern in it. I have NEVER mitered a border and wanted it to look like the pattern for once!!

So I will try again and if I have to I may need to get professional help, lol, from the local quilt shop. The dark fabric laying in the front is what I am going to bind it with. See what everyone is doing on Patchwork Times.

Wow -- that's a lot of triangles! Try searching the internet for mitered corner instructions... maybe there is something on UTube too. Good luck.

That's a fab-U-lous quilt. Miters are tricky; get help if you need it and I've found that of 4 miters on a quilt-ONE will give you trouble-it's like some unwrittem demented rule of something.

That's a lot of triangles and the quilt is beautiful. I'm no expert in mitered corners, but it will look stunning if you get it to work.

Well, it looks like you kept enough fabric for your mitered corners. I've done it a few times. You stop sewing 1/4" before the corner and then fold your quilt, right sides together and mark the sewing line on the back of the border that you want to miter.Sew to the 1/4" spot, trim off the excess and press your seam open. It's not really hard at all once you do it a couple of times. If you are still unsure, baste it first to make sure you're sewing on the right angle. I hope this helps.

BEAUTIFUL!!!! I just got my Edyta triangle paper in - and love seeing your result! I forgot: which size did you use 1.5 or 2?

Love the border colors and the binding, so interesting with all the color in the triangles. Mitered corners are on my list for someday--hope you get yours worked out!
